Presidents Alumni Day

November 17, 2015

Some other Presidents were having their annual college football alumni day here up in the heavenly reaches. A surprising number of presidents played college football. So we had Presidents Nixon, Kennedy, Ford, and Eisenhower tossing back a few and also drinking some beers.

President Ford still likes to walk around with his helmet on. He's still pretty stung that President Johnson said he'd played too long without a helmet. President Kennedy had a lot of interesting comments about the cheerleaders and my good friend Erin Andrews. I didn't know that there were so many potential uses for wiffle ball bats.

President Eisenhower talked a lot about his time with the team at West Point, especially because he was on the team that was upset by Notre Dame over 100 years ago, so he's always kind of had it in for the Irish.

But the real entertaining guy was President Nixon. He was drawing up plays and making a lot of jokes, such as "that guy cuts through defenses like he's General Giap!" or "rewind the tape. Then burn it!" He's actually a pretty entertaining guy and he gave me a big bear hug in parting. Only later did I realize my wallet was missing.
