There's been a lot of talk about the NFL and the lockout of the referees and the hiring of replacement referees. The whole issue of strikes has a history in college football as well.

I remember watching a documentary about an old-time college coaches' strike where they had to bring in replacement coaches. Coach Paterno was replaced by a retired pro coach named Tony and the president of the university was played by that Mary girl who got splooged by Ben Stiller. Coach Tony then made a speech about using every inch. Then Tony said "say hello to my little friend", brought out that Tattoo guy, and had his brother Joe Montana shoot him. That fired up the Nittany Lions and they won the six-team competition for the Jack Lambert Trophy.

Later on each of the coaches of the other five teams were gunned down, my good friend Roone Arledge found Sarah Jessica Parker's head in his bed, then Coach had JoePa's brother killed while he was swimming in Lake Tahoe.
