1998 Week 2
September 10, 1998
Well, I had to say I told you so, but I told you so. Notre Dame beat Michigan and my friend Lee Corso couldn't even get that right. Not that I expect him to be able to predict games, but you think he would learn to stop making a fool of himself on that GameDay Show.
I was glad to see ND finally bring back their program and fill the seats. I don't know what I would have done if I had seen all those empty seats like a couple of years ago.
But I still didn't expect the blow-out in South Bend. And what was with that timeout with 0:08 seconds to go? Did Lloyd really think he could hold ND and score 16 points in 8 seconds? I guess these new coaches are really trying some new offenses.
Well, it doesn't get any easier for Michigan either. They have to play another option team in Syracuse. And this guy can actually throw the ball. And what was with that horrible pass interference call at the end?? Couldn't the Big East Officials get at least one play right? I think that the downturn in the Big East has affected all aspects of the conference. They should have used some neutral officials, like from the SEC.
As I flipped the dial Saturday night (I still don't like those remotes things. I feel like I'm on Star Treck or something), I saw the ASU Washington game. That ending had me confused as well. ASU goes into a prevent defense on 4th and 17 and gives up the game winning 60 yard TD pass. I don't think it was a good idea for the Sun Devils to rush 4 guys and have 7 guys playing Hackysack at the 50 yard line.
I have to say that at least we had some exciting football. Unlike what came out of the Big 12 conference this weekend. I think K State should have played two teams at once - and I mean allowing 22 players on the field. It was pathetic.
And what about UCF beating La Tech worse than Nebraska did?? I think Nebraska better be glad they aren't playing UCF this year. With the new point system, that almost loss could really hurt.
Well, that's enough for now. I'll be watching this weekend. And I'll be practicing too. Sooner or later they have to throw Corso off that show.
