2011 Week 2
September 15, 2011
Yesterday I had yet another chat on ESPN. Believe it or not, once again they changed my answers. Here are my original answers to the questions posed:
John Parks (Portland, Or): Beeno can you tell me why USC wasn't charged with too many men on the field on the final play of their game vs Utah?
Beeno Cook: Since the game was in Utah, they were playing with Mormon rules. Under Mormon rules you can never have too many.
T.J. (Norman, OK): Does the SEC go after Western Virginia?
Beeno Cook: I know that there has been a lot of talk recently about players getting paid and all that, but I see no reason for the SEC to begin investigating schools like Western Virginia.
Zack (OKC): Why has the site played down espn's role in the break up of Texas and their conference mates?
Beeno Cook: I once compared Texas to the New York Yankees, but I dont think the Texas payroll even begins to approach that of the Yankees. To say they are the NY Yankees of the Southwest Conference is a bit over the top. But I will agree that the MSG Network is bad. Gives me a headache.
Dom (NY): Beeno, I've been following ND football since 1966
Beeno Cook: '66 was a great year for the Fighting Suh.
BK (South Bend): How much pressure is there on Rick Neuheisel at UCLA?
Beeno Cook: Lets say that Rick is feeling more pressure than the time he got a prostate exam from my good friend Lee Corso. Lee says that he puts both hands on the shoulders to increase his leverage.
Vince (Salt Lake City): Beeno, You were the ONLY national figure who picked WVU to win the National Championship in the 1987 season.
Beeno Cook: I thought I picked Notre Dame.
matt (georgia): how do you the the georgia bulldogs will get back on track
Beeno Cook: You know, I share one passion with you. I like to see the dogs at the track. But never bet on the bulldogs. They arent built for it. Always go with the greyhounds.
Rob (Chicago): Beeno...even you have to admit Michigan's QB Robinson is the most exciting player in the nation.
Beeno Cook: I don't think there's anybody in college football more "special" than Dotard Robinson.
Gay (Palm Beach): Beeno, can Golden return the U to relevance?
Beeno Cook: When I'm going to see gay on Palm Beach, I prefer brown showers to golden.
Schembechler (Ann Arbor, MI): Beeno, I have heard that the Buckeye Marching Band has been caught selling autugraphed musical instruments on Ebay?
Beeno Cook: My daughter Beth Cook used to march. This one time, at band camp, you wouldn't believe what they did to her with the tuba.
Lance (Destin, FL): Has Alabama become boring?
Beeno Cook: Alabama has never been boring. I still have fond memories from my youth of a show at a club in Montgomery involving Helen Keller and ping pong balls.
Tommy (Norman): Isn't is possible for a team to lose early and come back and win the national title? It has happened before.
Beeno Cook: Many teams have taken the lead in the BCS Title only to have someone beat them later. Yes, it can happen.
Giancarlo Toffoli (St. Jean, Canada): Mr. Cook, not having been able to watch the Notre Dame-Michigan game in Canada because it was not broadcast unless it was on a shall we say illegal satellite feed, is it now safe to say my beloved leprachauns are about as overrated as the Big Three of the Miami Heat?
Beeno Cook:Thats what you get for living in the Great White North. Youll get to be satisfied when the Irish play Yukon in Big East basketball.
Jeremy (Iowa): Do you think there could be a rematch of Iowa and Iowa State in a bowel game?
Beeno Cook: I predict they'll meet in the first Big Ten championship game.
George (Orlando): After the first couple of weeks do you think there's another non-AQ team that can follow in the footsteps of Boise and TCU?
Beeno Cook: I know there are 57 states in the Union, but which one is AQ?
Nick (Denver): If Oklahoma wins the TO margin, I find it difficult seeing a scenario where they don't win by 7-10.
Beeno Cook: Any team will be victorious if they win the TD margin.
Kevin (Severn, MD): Do you like the throwback uniforms MSU is going to roll out against Michigan this year?
Beeno Cook: I'm a big fan of anything done by MoreHead State.
rod (KY): Which is harder head Coach of UK basketball or Notre Dame Football....I call it a draw.
Beeno Cook: Based on what I've read about coach Pitino's 30-second antics, I'd guess that B Kelly is harder. Can't beat those teenage girls for excitement, even if they ask you to.
Morris (Willmont, WY): Is there an AJ Green in college today?
Beeno Cook: There hasn't been an AJ Green type virgin player since Tim Tebow left Florida. At least when AJ got to the NBA he got to play with a Magic Johnson.
David (Blue Springs, SC): What has impressed you more? LSU's defense or Bama's defense?
Beeno Cook: My favorite southern defense is Matlock. He was good.
Charlie (Nashville, TN, area): Why and how has Texas fallen so far so fast?
Beeno Cook: Gravity. They're at the bottom of the map. They're probably down around the Falklands by now.
Rachel (USC): I'm a song girl and appreciate your tastes.
Beeno Cook: And I appreciate your taste too. Now come ride the Beeno pole.
Henry (Suches, GA): Who do you think is a sleeper in the ACC this year? Clemson? GT? Can North Carolina win big?
Beeno Cook: Actually, Im the biggest sleeper in the ACC. I get about 12 hours a nite.
