2012 Week 10

November 14, 2012

Whoa, did we have some excitement this past weekend.

There's nothing quite like sitting back and watching football between two of Coach Bryant's former teams. Ole Bear's head was whipsawing back and forth as that game went along. I could tell he was pulling for his alma mater, but you could see how proud he was of A&M, the Horns played a great game. That final offsides penalty on the Tide was crucial and you could see Nick Satan's head spin around 360 degrees after the call.

And how about that Jimmy Football kid? I predict he will win three Heisman Trophies and, due to the lockout, this year's Stanley Cup.

I haven't seen a freshman score like that since the Kappa Iota Thigh fraternity was paid a visit by my daughter. Speaking of Beth Cook, I noticed that she really put the lumber to Savannah over the weekend. I didn't know she swings from both sides of the plate.

One of the less-noticed but still exciting games was Georgia Tech's 68-50 win over North Carolina. I asked my good friend Jim Valvano if it was a basketball score, but he said "no, Beeno, 68-50 is too high scoring for an ACC hoops game".

Even though Alabama fell from the ranks of the unbeaten, the other three powerhouses kept chugging along. Notre Dame smothered Boston College 21-6, dealing another blow to their lardassed archrival "Frodo". Oregon bombed Cal in yet another huge win. And Kansas City State upheld the pride of the Show Me State by knocking off TCU.

The other undefeated team, the one that nobody was taking seriously, the St. Louisville Cardinals, took it on the chin from the Syracuse Orange Testicle. I'm sure my good friend Coach Corso enjoyed that visual.

My Pitt Panthers, after losing a heartbreaker to the Irish the week before, had to take a long road trip and were upended by Yukon. I would expect a coach named Chryst to do more to resurrect the program.

The Big Ten had some excitement, as Nebraska came from behind to topple Penn State 32-23. A key play was an apparent Penn State touchdown that was ruled a fumble, apparently incorrectly. Now before the Nittany faithful get up in arms, let's not forget that Nebraska lost in State College Station some 30 years ago after a phantom touchdown for Penn State. I know that Coach Paterno hasn't forgotten it, I can hear him still screaming about it. Or maybe he's screaming about that whole 3,000 years in purgatory thing, I'm not sure.

This coming week looks to be full of great matchups as well. Especially the USC/UCLA Cheerleader Bowel. Talk to you next week.
