2024 Week 6

October 10, 2024

We finally are having some excellent conference games.

Thanks to all the shifting around of teams in conferences, Miami played Cal in a conference game. The Hurricanes came from behind after stopping the Bears on a controversial third down play. As far as I can tell, a Miami player tackled the Cal quarterback by spearing him with a helmet, punching him in the head, and giving him a wedgie with his jockstrap. No penalty was called and Miami got the ball back and drove the field to win.

Of course it's pretty silly that Miami vs. Cal is a conference game, it's ridiculous that a team from South Florida is now in the Pacific-8 conference. The only thing dumber would be for a team on San Francisco Bay to be in a conference named for the Atlantic Ocean.

On Friday night Syracuse had an exciting 44-41 overtime win over UNLV. Now I'm still trying to understand these overtime rules. UNLV went first and kicked a field goal but the Orange Testicles still got a chance and scored a TD but they took more plays to do so. And there weren't any two-pointer shootouts. They sure seem to change the rules for OT all the time.

Washington pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Michigan, 27-17, in one of the finer non-conference games on Saturday. Highly rated Tennessee was upset by R Kansas in an excellent showing for the Southwest Conference.

One of the biggest whuppings of the day occurred in State College Station where the Aggies blasted top ten rated Missouri, 41-10. Also in the Loan Star State, SMU batted around against the St Louisville Cardinals, winning 34-27.

Indiana is now 6-0 for the first time since the Johnson Administration after an easy win over Northwestern. I think that's the Andrew Johnson Administration, by the way.

Florida is starting to turn things around as they beat expansion state Central Florida 24-13 after CF seceded from regular Florida.

My Panthers are off to an excellent start at 5-0 with an easier than expected 34-24 win over North Carolina. Here's hoping that the Big East tilts aren't too tough for Pitt.

Of course the game we all want to talk about is Vanderbilt's stunning win over #1 ranked Alabama. Commodes quarterback Diego Pavia had an outstanding game and I predict Diego will win two Heismans, a Country Music Award, and the "most likely to be a bust for the Cleveland Browns" award.

I guess former Bama coach Nick Satan said that Vanderbilt is the easiest place to win in the SEC. The Vandy fans responded by tearing down the goal posts and building a Vanderbilt themed pentagram at midfield then burning an effigy of Nick. That backfired as a few demons were summoned by the fire and laid waste to Nashville's famous "District" with explosive diarrhea provided by famous Nashville Satanist Kathie Lee Gifford.

Next week is going to be fascinating - we'll have Texas vs Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout, Ohio State visiting Oregon, and the famous Battle for the #2 Pencil between Stanford and Notre Dame. Should be a great one!
