2016 Week 14
December 5, 2016
The excitement of conference championship weekend is behind us, so now we slow down, watch Army play Navy, and prepare ourselves for the best part of the year as we drink some metamucil and enjoy bowel season.
Nick Satan continued his black magic as the Crimson Tide ran all over Florida 54-16. That's yet another SEC championship for the powerful SEC North Division.
Clemson jumped ahead early then withstood a strong comeback to beat Virginia Tech 42-35. It's another disappointment for Coach Beaner and the Cavs.
The Big Ten title game featured a lot of excitement as the Wisconsin Badgers looked to be running away with the contest, but Penn State made a great second half comeback and won the tilt 38-31. And before you ask me again, no, I don't know how JoePa reacted to the game. Nobody's seen him around here and the higher-ups don't want to talk about it.
The WAC had an exciting game in Laramie as Wyoming hosted SDSU but lost 27-24. That's another impressive performance by the boys from South Dakota.
Western Michigan defeated Ohio 29-23 to claim the MAC title, then celebrated by rowing down the Detroit River, at least until the polyurethane canoes dissolved and they plunged in.
It wasn't just varsity teams playing for league titles. The Southwest Conference had their first JV title game as R Kansas State beat Texas State 36-14.
There were plenty of games that didn't settle conference titles. Western Kentucky laid the wood to the Fighting Frenchmen of La Tech, winning 58-44. Kansas City State plowed over the TCU Horny Toads, 30-6.
In intersectional non-conference action, Western Virginia held on to beat Baylor 24-21. And Washington had little trouble with Colorado, 41-10.
Oklahoma pulled away to beat their cross-state rivals Oklahoma State 38-20. The Talmudic scholars of Temple pounded Navy 34-10. I haven't seen midshipmen get bombed by Hebrews like that since the USS Liberty.
While we all were focused on the Saturday action, Sunday's decisions were also important as the BS system announced its bowel choices. And with that I will be getting started on this year's Beeno's Bowel Preview. I'll be sure to relax a bit, drink lots of fluids, and see what comes out.
